Code of Conduct for Teachers

The role of a teacher is to educate, inspire, and guide students towards their intellectual and personal growth. This Code of Conduct outlines the ethical values and standards that guide teaching, knowledge, skills, competence, and overall conduct for all registered teachers. The institution expects all teachers to adhere to these standards regardless of their position or role. The following points are to be strictly followed:

  • 1. Commitment to Students’ Well-being: Teachers should be caring, fair, and committed to the best interests of the students entrusted to their care. They should seek to motivate, inspire, and celebrate the effort and success of their pupils/students.
  • 2. Respect for Individuality: Teachers must acknowledge and respect the uniqueness, individuality, and specific needs of each student. Their goal should be to promote the holistic development of every student, ensuring their intellectual, emotional, and social growth.
  • 3. Commitment to Equality and Inclusion: Teachers must be committed to fostering an environment of equality and inclusion, respecting and accommodating diversity as outlined in the equality legislation of the Indian Constitution.
  • 4. Building Positive Relationships: Teachers should strive to develop positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, college management, and others in the college community, based on professional integrity, respect, and sound judgment.
  • 5. Honesty and Integrity: Teachers should act with honesty and integrity in all aspects of their work and represent their professional status truthfully.
  • 6. Confidentiality and Privacy: Teachers should respect the privacy of others and maintain confidentiality unless a legal obligation necessitates disclosure or there is a legitimate concern for an individual’s well-being.
  • 7. Avoiding Conflicts of Interest: Teachers should avoid conflicts between their professional duties and private interests that could negatively affect students’ education or well-being.
  • 8. Appropriate Communication: Teachers should ensure their communication with students, colleagues, parents, and college management is appropriate, including through electronic media.
  • 9. Lecture Diary and Attendance: Teachers are required to maintain a lecture diary and report to the institution by 8:15 am daily, following the prescribed timetable.
  • 10. Academic Planning and Execution: Teachers are expected to prepare and execute teaching plans, evaluate assignments, and promptly upload results on the university portal.
  • 11. Mentoring: Teachers are to act as mentors for their assigned mentees, guiding them in their academic and personal development.
  • 12. Co-Curricular and Extracurricular Activities: Teachers must actively participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, encouraging students' growth.
  • 13. Committee Responsibilities: Teachers appointed to committees must attend meetings and maintain records in a timely manner.
  • 14. Leave Management: Teachers should adjust schedules and responsibilities before applying for leave to minimize disruptions.

By adhering to these guidelines, teachers uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and responsibility, contributing to the development of a healthy, productive, and inspiring learning environment for all students.
